How do I disable touch features on Windows 10?
The instructions in this article apply to all models of ActivPanel and ActivBoard Touch as well as any ActivBoard 500 Pro upgraded to the latest ActivBoard HID firmware.
If you have a Windows 10 computer connected to a Promethean HID touch device and would like to disable the touch feature, you can do this in the Windows registry.
Please note that you will need to be logged in as an administrator to complete the below.
Disabling touch
To turn touch off within Windows 10, follow these steps:
- Click on the Windows search icon in your taskbar, type regedit and select Run as administrator.
- If prompted, enter your administrator password or click Yes to continue.
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Wisp\Touch.
- If the TouchGate entry is not visible in the right pane of the Registry Editor, you will need to create it. If it is already present, go to step 5.
- Right click on the right pane of the Registry Editor, select New and then DWORD (32-bit) Value.
- NB: Select this option even if you are using a 64-bit computer.
- Rename the new entry to TouchGate.
- Right click on the right pane of the Registry Editor, select New and then DWORD (32-bit) Value.
- Double click on the TouchGate entry and set Value data to 0.
- Click OK, close the Registry Editor and then sign out of the computer.
Once you have signed out, touch will no longer be activated within Windows 10.
Re-enabling touch
To turn touch back on, repeat the steps above but in step 5 set Value data back to 1.
Close the Registry Editor and then sign out of your computer to reactivate touch.
